Emily Wopata partners with business clients on a variety general counsel matters, with a special focus on human resources and compliance.  Her work includes bringing workplace policies and trainings into legal compliance and providing day-to-day counseling to enable clients to make wise decisions related to personnel management.  Emily also has experience in contract drafting and negotiation, as well as investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. With an understanding of the frequent and complex issues continually faced by today’s businesses, Emily appreciates the importance of accurately identifying legal risks and working with clients as a team to implement practical and timely legal solutions.

Before joining Business Law Advisors, Emily spent several years counseling public school districts in Kansas and Missouri.  She worked closely with school administrators and boards of education to minimize legal risk in daily operations related to personnel, students, contracting, and governance.

In her free time, Emily is an active member of the Junior League of Kansas City and other community organizations. Outside of those activities, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and chasing after her two boys.
